Laser spider vein treatment is very different from the traditional injection treatment – sclerotherapy. With lasers, we do not need to pierce the skin to close off these small spider veins. Lasers achieve the same goal of collapsing spider veins but without the need for an injection by using heat energy to shrink the small blood vessels, open up the vein wall, so you body can get rid of the trapped blood in the non-functioning veins.

Dissolves small veins and blood vessels, reduces diffuse redness and evens out skin tone on legs.

Lasers deliver a gentle burst of light that selectively heats and collapses the blood vessels, without damaging the surrounding tissue.

Our laser leg vein treatment is for one palm sized treatment area, a 20 minute max treatment. However, if you would like a multiple areas or a larger area treated, the duration of your treatment would depend on the size and number of areas you wish to have treated.

For best results, 2-4 treatments should be performed 6-8 weeks apart. Many clients will see immediate results upon their first treatment. These results continue and increase with a series of treatments every 10 days to 2 weeks apart in other areas that have not been treated within in 6-8 weeks.

Depending on your sensitivity and the area being treated, the skin may look red, and be flushed, puffy or bruised from a few hours up to several days. Some types of veins may appear slightly worse before they look better. Treatment may be uncomfortable and bruising is expected. People usually go right back to work or normal activity post-visit. However, it is advisable to avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after the treatment. If post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a concern you may be advised to use hydroquinone pre and post treatment. This product will inhibit or reduce hyperpigmentation (brown spots) from forming. Should hyperpigmentation occur it will fade with time.

Which skin types can be safely treated for spider veins with laser?

Laser & light therapies can safely treat skin types I – IV, light to medium in color, when treating leg veins.

What can I expect from a laser leg vein treatment?

The treatment closes off or collapses small veins and blood vessels on the face as well as spider veins on the legs, diffuses redness and evens out skin tone. For the face we recommend a minimum of 5 treatments for maximum results. For leg veins we recommend an average of 2-4 treatments on each area.

How does laser & light therapy for spider veins on the legs work?

The laser leg vein treatment delivers energy that is absorbed by small red veins and blood vessels. The energy from the light generates heat which irritates the vessel walls closing off or collapsing the vessels. The vein is then absorbed by the body.

How many laser leg vein treatments are recommended?

A minimum series of 3 treatments for leg veins. Periodic maintenance thereafter may be necessary. The type of vascular lesion and the severity of the condition will determine the number of treatments needed.

What is the difference between spider veins and varicose veins?

Spider veins are small veins at or near the surface of the skin. They are typically less than 1 mm in diameter and can be blueish or red. They typically appear on the legs or face but can be present on other areas of the body as well. They are differentiated from varicose veins because they are not raised or bumpy and they do not impede circulation because they are superficial in nature.

Can blue varicose veins be treated at Sleek Laser & Skin Center with laser leg vein therapy?

We recommend seeing a vascular surgeon to evaluate and treat varicose veins.

Why choose laser leg vein therapy over traditional sclerotherapy?

Both methods can be effective for treating small veins but our clients choose laser vein removal for several reasons. Some clients have tried sclerotherapy in the past with no success. Others say they have had problems with the pain and brown and purple scars caused by sclerotherapy, while others just have an aversion to needles.
